Nadia's best friend has a bomb in her head and it's up to Nadia and her Agents of GIRL to get it out. Meanwhile, Mother has come to town to bring Nadia and Ying back to the Red Room...

Well, all good things must come to an end, some way before their time. Honestly, this just pisses me off. This series had a world of potential and they cut the legs out from under it just when it was getting started.

There is so much heart to this book. Janet Van Dyne, aka the original Wasp, steps in when Nadia needs her most, when her friend is in the hospital. The relationships between Nadia, the Agents of GIRL, and the Wasp provide some of the best character moments I've seen in comics in a while. And there was a near man-tears moment when Nadia got to see a video of her mother and father together. And another when Nadia picke dher last name. Fucking comics...

And the art was even better than the first volume. There are a few really dynamic panels in this thing. Even though I read it on Marvel Unlimited, I'm going to nab a physical copy. The ending both wraps up the series and leaves the door open for things to come, should Marvel ever come to its senses.

And now I'm going to get up on my soap box:
In its brief lifetime, The Unstoppable Wasp was everything that was good about comics: drama, laughs, tears, guest stars, action, adventure, and great characters. For a work that's derivitive of sixty-year old properties, it felt surprisingly new. Not only that, it featured primarily female characters, something that's still rare in the medium, something that could bring in new readers, particularly in the half of the population comics have been neglecting since their inception. And Marvel cancelled it because of sales. And let's be honest: how much of that was because people have stopped getting behind new characters because they know Marvel will inevitably yank the rug out from under them?

For my money, I'd much rather read another hundred issues of The Unstoppable Wasp than more covers of Lee & Kirby's greatest hits. In the future, I think people will look back on this series as a missed opportunity. It was a great eight issues. Five out of five stars.
