My rating: 3 of 5 stars
If you've ever seen the movie Creepshow, you know what this book contains. Its five stories are homages to EC comics. Stephen King handles the writing and Bernie Wrightson handles the art, apart from the Jack Kamen cover.
I was tempted to give this a four based on feelings of nostalgia for the movie but I ultimately decided on a three. It's a cool thing to have for a fan of the movie and the stories are 99% similar, owing to Bernie working from an older version of the screenplay. I love Bernie Wrightson but I don't think the stories made full use of his talent. The settings weren't shadowy enough and there weren't enough rotting corpses and monsters. It's like bringing a grenade launcher to a skeet shoot.
Ultimately, I think Creepshow has more value as a piece of movie memorabilia than it does an actual book. Three out of five stars.
