Hashtag: Danger - Panic on Dinosaur Mountain!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hashtag: Danger - Panic on Dinosaur Mountain! collects the first thirteen Hashtag: Danger adventures.

Hot on the heels of reading some 1970s Challengers of the Unknown comics, I was in the mood for something similar. Fortunately, I already had Hashtag: Danger in my clutches.

More concerned with their standing on social media and making money than saving humanity, Hashtag: Danger is the Adult Swim version of Challengers of the Unknown.

I wasn't crazy about the art at first but it grew on me. It perfectly suits the tone of the story. The character designs are great and Randy Elliot, Andy Troy, and Rob Steen draw the hell out of robots, dinosaurs, monsters, and super villains. Einstein Armstrong's look, with his notched Afro and glasses, reminded me of Moss from The IT Crowd. Sugar Rae is a powerhouse that still seems feminine and Desiree Danger conveys dangerous innocence at every turn.

The stories, particularly the dialogue, are hilarious. While the Hashtag: Danger team's bickering seems familiar, no member of the Fantastic Four ever died from eating the shit of a cute alien. The stories use science fiction standards for maximum hilarity and also skew today's social media culture.

Hashtag: Danger - Panic on Dinosaur Mountain is perfect for fans of Silver Age adventurers who like Adult Swim style humor. Five out of five #hashtags.
