As I've mentioned before, I'm an Archie guy from way back. 2021 is the 80th anniversary of Archie and so they launched this digest. I subscribed, my first subscription since my years-long Fantastic Four subscription lapsed sometime in the mid-1990s.
Since it's the 80th anniversary of Archie, the stories are plucked from various time periods in Archie's history. While that's not unusual for the digests, each section has a lead-in talking about the artists and characters. There are two New Archies stories, two Sabrina, and two Josie. The lead story, Crisis on The Riverdale Earths, features Jughead using his time police crown to transform Archie into various versions of himself to combat Mad Doctor Doom and Evil Heart.
There are a wide range of artists in this, from the innovator Bob Montana all the way to more modern guys like Dan Parent and the Kennedys. Dan DeCarlo, Harry Lucey, Bill Vigoda, and others round out the lineup, an All-star team of Archie artists.
Archie's 80th Anniversary Digest is a cut above the usual Archie digests. My first subscription in almost 30 years is off to a great start! Four out of five stars.
