Getter Robo Devolution Volume 2

Getter Robo Devolution Vol. 2Getter Robo Devolution Vol. 2 by Ken Ishikawa
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nagare Ryoma struggles with his new role and new teammates. Will Ryoma be able to step up when the Unevolved threaten the city, the institute, and the entire world?

The Getter Robo story unfolds a bit more in volume 2. Throwing parallel dimensions into the mix only adds to my interest. I like that this reboot/reimagining doesn't throw out the original material but instead consigns it to a parallel universe.

Anyway, Hayato keeps riding Ryoma, leaving Musashi to play peacemaker. Can the three Getter pilots stop the Unevolved and protect The Fragment of the Emperor? Duh!

In this volume, Ryoma stops being a mopey teenage and finally steps up. The Unevolved threat is explained a bit more and seeds are sown for future stories. Now the long wait for volume 3 begins.

Getter Robo Devolution continues to be a buffet of my favorite things: giant monsters, giant robots, and parallel dimensions. Four out of five stars.
