The Perhapahauts: Into the Hollow Earth

The Perhapanauts: Into The Hollow EarthThe Perhapanauts: Into The Hollow Earth by Todd Dezago
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After receiving a distress signal from Salazar, Big's mentor, the Perhapanauts find themselves in the utopian world of Mu, where everything isn't as great as it seems...

I bought this a while back after reading the first Perhapanauts trade. The gang enters a cave in China and rides a rail into Mu, where everything isn't as great as it initially seems.

There were parts of this I really liked. The art is slick and I like the concepts. The problem is it quickly devolved into a stereotypical "mad scientist wants to save the world by killing a lot of people" storyline. The characters don't have much in the way of personalities apart from Choop and Choop's antics weren't enough to overcome my other problems with the book.

Still, I enjoyed it so there's that. Three out of five stars.
